Insect Ecology Resources

- Insects in communities -

An insect ecologist studies the structure and function of insect communities. Insect-plant interactions, predator-prey interactions, and social organization are some of the main areas of study. Peter Price's Insect Ecology is a classic text in this field (right).

Predator-prey and host-parasite interactions are at the core of insect ecology. Predators and parasites are often called "natural enemies" of pests. Natural Enemies : An Introduction to Biological Control (more information) is a good introduction for gardeners.
