What is bamboo spider
mite?
Bamboo spider mite (Schizotetranychus
celarius) is an important pest in commercial
bamboo nurseries. Mites feed on a dense, protective
webbing so are difficult to control by conventional
means. In some areas this mite limits commercial
production of bamboo. Fortunately a new miticide is
available to combat this difficult pest.
Download the Bamboo Spider Mite Guide for
updates of biology and control for this spider mite
pest as well as additional pictures. Information
about other aspects of bamboo cultivation and care
can be found at the American Bamboo Society.
