Summary: The bamboo spider mite can be a serious pest in commercial bamboo nurseries and landscapes. Mites form dense colonies under a protective webbing. A new miticide (Floramite) is available for combating this pest.

Bamboo spider mite (Schizotetranychus celarius) is an important pest in commercial bamboo production. In some areas this mite limits commercial production of bamboo. Fortunately a new miticide is available to combat this difficult pest.
